Session: Morning Session 10.30am - 12.00pm
Date: Saturday 2nd October '10

Trainer: Lynn Scott, Advanced Skilled Teacher, Childwall Valley Primary School, Liverpool
Audience: Early Years Practitioners and KS1 practitioners committed to taking EYFS practice into KS1
Age Range: 3-7 years
The children we teach today are immersed in new technology. They spend their entire lives surrounded by and using computers, video games, digital music players, video cameras, mobile phones and all the other toys and tools of the digital age. As practitioners we have a responsibility to prepare children for the digital world they live in and help them to make best use of the available technology to support learning. Using examples of current practice, this forum will discuss how ICT is used to support children's progress across all six areas of learning through:
the use of still and moving images - using film as a visual text with particular emphasis on developing speaking and listening,
reading and writing;
the use of video and digital cameras, mp3 players, animation and pod casting;
developing their critical thinking skills and self evaluation.
