The new OFSTED Inspection Framework for early years requires that settings provide evidence of the impact of their services on outcomes for children and their families. It also encourages settings to provide evidence of how they track children and families' use of services, their developmental journeys over time and the outcomes of their engagement with the services
offered. This will involve the collection and analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data to provide a robust evidence base of performance in each setting. Evidence is essential for completion of the SEF and for improvement planning.
This course will:
discuss the legal framework surrounding the new outcomes duty and tracking requirements from OFSTED and other bodies;
consider ways of systematically, rigorously and ethically gathering evidence on outcomes of services for children and
families;
explore quantitative and qualitative methodologies for providing rigorous evidence of outcomes for children and for tracking
risk in families;
identify the parameters and features of a robust and manageable evaluative strategy for settings which builds on a selfevaluation
methodology within an agreed and robust framework.
