Setting up an area in the garden for planting fruit and vegetables

Second prize winner in our "EYP of the Year" competition, Kate Milne tells us how she engaged children, staff and parents in developing a productive growing area in her setting. Kate gained EYPS in February 2011 from Anglia Ruskin University in Chelmsford, and is Manager of Happy Days Nursery in Rayleigh, Essex, where she has worked for nearly fourteen years. Kate shows a keen interest in the natural environment and the wider world and actively supports children in developing their curiosity and investigation skills through purposeful play experiences.

Awarded third prize in our "EYP of the Year" competition, Hayley Murphy describes how she created a stimulating and enticing role play area. Hayley gained EYPS in February 2011 through the long pathway at the University of Greenwich. She works in a small private preschool in Dartford, Kent.
